Fort Gibson FUMC Mission Statement:
To involve all church members in reaching out
to the community and world through actions, resources, prayers and service.
How are we involved in mission at Ft. Gibson UMC?
Locally: Front Door Ministry (food pantry), Willey Road cleanup,
Assist Children’s Home in Tahlequah with upkeep of Smith Cottage,
Nursing Home ministry, Angel Tree (Prison Fellowship Ministries),
Teddy Bear Tree (supplying stuffed toys to a local group
that works with children in trauma situations),
Lake Ministry (Greenleaf Lake), and Individuals in congregation
who provide aid and support to the community.
Nationally: Support of missionary, Support of United Methodist Committee
on Relief (UMCOR), Participating in Volunteers in Mission (VIM) projects.
Internationally: Supporting UMCOR projects worldwide, Participating in VIM
projects as short term missionaries.
How can each person help further our church’s mission goals?
1. Support missions with your prayers
2. Participate actively in reaching goals
(serve on committees, assist with work projects)
3. Supporting goals financially
(special project support and connectional giving*)
Mission Opportunities:
1. Participate in Nursing Home Ministry
2. Support Front Door Ministry (with food and funds)
3. Help with Willey Road Cleanup in spring
4. Support Angel Tree
5. Support Teddy Bear Tree
6. Serve as a short-term missionary by being a
Volunteer in Missioner other VIM opportunities
as coordinated by the Oklahoma VIM.
